MARY FARRELL, Registered Psychotherapist

Mary Farrell, Registered PsychotherapistB.A (Hons), PGCE, Post Grad Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, MNZAP, PBANZ

I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor for the last thirty years. I completed my education and training in the UK and was the director of counselling for the British Law Society seeing students and staff at their College of Law in Chester. I have many years’ experience in mentoring members of the medical profession and see several doctors, helping them to debrief and come to terms with the daily trauma they often experience. I also offer supervision to members of all the helping professions.

In 1995 I emigrated to New Zealand with my husband and son and have since become one of the first fully registered psychotherapists in New Zealand.

My approach is intersubjective. In other words, I look at all the relationships you have had in your life and help you to make sense of patterns that have always been there. By taking a full family history, I help you to trace the ways in which your own personality has developed and this helps you pinpoint the difficulties that are holding you back and causing you problems.
