MARY FARRELL, Registered Psychotherapist
B.A (Hons), PGCE, Post Grad Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, MNZAP.
Mary Farrell has been in private practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor for the last twenty years. She completed her education and training in the UK and was the director of counselling for the British Law Society seeing students and staff at their College of Law in Chester.
In 1995 she emigrated to New Zealand with her husband and son and has since become one of the first fully registered psychotherapists in New Zealand.
Mary's approach is intersubjective. In other words, she looks at all the relationships you have had in your life and helps you to make sense of patterns that have always been there. By taking a full family history, she helps you to trace the ways in which your own personality has developed and helps you pinpoint the difficulties that are holding you back and causing you problems.
Her speciality areas are relationship difficulties, depression, grief and loss. She works with same sex and heterosexual couples. She has a particular interest in mentoring members of the medical profession and sees several doctors, helping them to debrief and come to terms with the daily trauma they often experience. She also offers supervision to members of all the helping professions.
